Organization Summary
NorCal Arts’ (NorCal) mission is to provide holistic arts training programs, supporting young artists from diverse communities to create, express, and participate in theater arts, music, and/or dance educational opportunities. Through arts engagement, students are empowered to embrace social-emotional learning strategies and advocacy while creating a positive mindset towards themselves and their community.
Position Summary
The School Outreach Program Manager oversees NorCal’s Classroom Residencies program, supporting the successful delivery of arts education to approximately 10,000 students in 40+ schools across the Greater Sacramento region. This leadership role ensures quality programming by managing scheduling, supervision, and ongoing communication with teaching artists and school partners.
The Program Manager works collaboratively with the Outreach Program Director and is responsible for implementing and sustaining systems that promote high-quality instruction, alignment with NorCal’s mission, and strong relationships with school partners. This position plays a key role in building a supportive, inclusive, and creative learning environment for both students and staff.
Compensation Range: $25-$28 per hour

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Education, Arts Administration, Business, Theatre, Music, Dance, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience coordinating programs and building, facilitating, and leading high functioning, diverse adult teams
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and presenting information and data to diverse audiences
- Experience with public speaking, meeting facilitation, and presentations
- Experience with complex staff scheduling and with conducting needs/asset assessments
- Demonstrated ability to lead and support a diverse team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Experience collecting, analyzing, collating, and disaggregating data from multiple sources and presenting that data in easy-to-understand formats
- Verification of a negative Tuberculosis test required
- Federal Bureau of Investigation and CA Department of Justice criminal background check clearance required
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of teaching experience in arts education, particularly theater
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong understanding of early childhood education and social-emotional learning (SEL)
- Cultural competency and experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds
- Experience implementing grant-funded programming
- Experience coordinating comprehensive program activities in an academic setting
- Experience working in public school settings and familiarity with the professional culture of a school district
- Experience facilitating training or professional development
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, team-based approach
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Classroom Residencies program
- Develop and maintain complex teaching artist schedules across 40+ school sites
- Serve as the primary liaison between NorCal Arts and school partners, including classroom teachers, site leads, and administrators
- Supervise and support a team of 25+ teaching artists, providing weekly communication and ongoing mentorship
- Participate in the hiring and onboarding of new Teaching Artists, including interview processes and classroom observations
- Facilitate regular team meetings, check-ins, and observations to support continuous improvement; conduct quarterly classroom observations and provide individualized coaching and feedback to each Teaching Artist
- Coordinate trainings and professional developments including planning and potentially leading workshops
- Monitor program quality and respond promptly to scheduling or classroom concerns
- Attend regular team meetings to ensure alignment across departments
- Track and report program outcomes, ensuring classes are completed on time and to standard; maintain accurate records and documentation related to scheduling, attendance, and evaluations to assist with grant reporting
- Support special projects and represent NorCal at community and school events
- Utilize scheduling and tracking tools
- Conduct regular travel to school sites throughout Greater Sacramento region
Work Environment
- This position is based in person at the NorCal Arts office and includes regular visits to school sites. Reliable transportation is required to travel to and from school site locations.
