Title of Position: Assistant Arts Program Manager

Reports to: Arts Program Manager

Fair Labor Standards Act Status: Non-Exempt; Part-time

Essential Workforce

Primary Purpose: Responsible for assisting in the implementation of the programmatic and administrative aspects of the expanded learning arts program using a continuous quality improvement lens. This is an emerging arts management leadership position that supports the mission, vision, and philosophy of the school district and NorCal School of the Arts.

Compensation Range: $20 - $22 per hour

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of 48 units in a degree related to education, child development, theatre arts, arts education;
  • Degree attainment plan;
  • Verification of a negative Tuberculosis test;
  • CA Department of Justice criminal background check clearance;
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation criminal background check clearance;
  • Passion for working with youth;
  • Ability to manage programming in the absence of the Arts Coordinator.

  • Emerging written and verbal communication;
  • Basic computer Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and attendance database;
  • Maintain reliable, consistent attendance and punctuality;

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Model

    • Safe, respectful, inclusive, and fun atmosphere;
    • Facility cleanliness and maintenance;
    • Safety training, drills;
    • The social, emotional and instructional tone and style of the school day.
  • Operations

    • Follow the identified safe, supportive and respectful learning environment;
    • Supervise staff when Arts Program Manager is unavailable;
    • Follow all health and safety protocols;
    • Follow procedures for setting up, checking-in, snack/meal distribution, check-out, and closing procedures;
    • Follow transitional processes that support safety, efficiency, and comfort;
    • Inventory, and maintain expendable supplies;
    • Develop and implement academic and enrichment activities;
    • Follow established proactive behavior management intervention processes;
    • Support student social and emotional development.
  • Communicate

    • Build rapport with classroom teachers through positive and professional relationships;
    • Proactively communicate with Arts Program Manager about procedures, updates, enrollment, behavior, academics, schedule, activities, and special projects;
    • Supplies, training, programming needs and program quality to supervisor;
    • Assist in developing presentations.
  • Training and Staff Development

    • Participate in staff development meetings;
    • Participate in assigned training and development;
    • Suggest staff training needs;
    • Suggest team building activities;
    • Participate in safety training;
    • Support the implementation and scheduling of arts modalities and enrichment curriculum.

    • Continual speaking, walking and standing for long periods of time;
    • Frequent sitting, reaching, bending, grasping, kneeling, squatting;
    • Ability to lift, carry and exert up to 25 pounds of force;

Other Functions:

  • Perform other duties as assigned;
  • Assist in other school programs when necessary;
  • Provide artistic programming design input and collaboration.
